Based on the classic stories of H.P. Lovecraft, it is the movie closest to achieving the true atmosphere of Lovecraft fiction. Expect tremendous acting, direction, lighting, sets, make-up and thick, thick atmosphere. The best qualities of CURSE OF THE DEMON, THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI, FAUST, THE LOST WORLD (1925) and NOSFERATU all merge to create the elements that make this movie work. The concept was to take an H.P. Lovecraft story, get into the mind set that it was the period oft he story - 1926. Make the film as much as possible like a film-style from 1926. Modern technology was only used to help achieve that goal. A silent, black and white film with an incredibly rich, exciting and ominous music score. A true horror film in the tradition of true classics.
